a rough translation: "Ingeborg Birgitte Sorensdatter - parents: ungkarl/bachelor Soren Rasmussen Satre and pige/maiden Marit Lassesdatter Kjersem - witnesses: Peter Knutsen Dougstad, John Jensen and Knut Olsen Kjersem, Brit Rasmusdatter Dougstad, Guraa Johnsdatter & Gurianna Lassesdatter Kjersem"
Inga was Soren's 2nd child. He was not married when he had his son, Knud in 1865 with Brit Baardsdatter. Soren emigrated to the U.S. soon after Inga was born, eventually settling in Barnes County, North Dakota. He had 4 children with his first wife, Netta. After her death he married Karen Erikson. They did not have any children.
Inga was the first child for her mother, Marit. Marit eventually married Knud Jacobsen in Norway. They had several children in Norway and eventually all emigrated to Wisconsin.
Inga was christened on August 28, 1870 in Tresfjord Church at Sylte, Vestnes, Møre og Romsdal, Norway.
The witnesses were:
Peder Knutsen Dougstad
John Jensen, and his wife, Guraa Johnsdatter
Knut Olsen Kjersem
Brit Rasmusdatter Dougstad-her Father's sister
Gurianna Lassesdatter Kjersem-her Mother's sister
The Church Book has her confirmation records. Inga's information is on line 22. The last column on the right tells her vaccination date for small pox. She had hers on September 5, 1870.
The 2nd to last column records her confirmation class grades. It says that she had acceptable (taalelig) knowledge and work effort (flid). She was well behaved.
notes: The Fort Ransom Community History 1878 - 2003 book lists Inga as being born in Romsdalen, Norway. This is correct as it is what she would have known. Møre og Romsdal was called Romsdalen until 1919.
